A Mid-December Update Print
Written by Webmaster
I’m way over due on posting any updates to the website but things have been pretty busy around here, which isn’t really a bad thing. My computer business has started picking up since Thanksgiving and with Christmas fast approaching there is always plenty to do.                                                                                                                                                                           After Andrew and I got back from our Oklahoma hunting trip, it was Thanksgiving, then I played catch up for a week or so. Then I got a stomach bug and was out of commission for a few days, then my computer work really started picking up and I’ve been very busy which is great. There has also been a lot going on with the Appleby Fire Dept. which has kept Amanda and I busy. We’ve got so much going on there, I’m not even sure where to start. I’m on the new fire station building committee and we’ve been diligently working to finalize some floor plans now that our dirt work is mostly completed. We had fire trucks in both the Nacogdoches Co. Veteran’s Day Parade and the Nacogdoches Nine Flags Christmas Parade. Then we did our annual Appleby Santa Parade where Santa rides one of our trucks and we travel all over the City of Appleby and the outlying community and pass out candy canes to the kids and let them talk with Santa if they’d like to. We also had our department Christmas banquet and awards ceremony which was a nice event. I was awarded Rookie Firefighter of the year, which must have been some sort of a mistake. Ha! So needless to say there has been plenty going on with the fire dept. outside of responding to emergencies. Don’t forget to check out www.applebyfire.com and view the photo gallery that I try to update regularly.

The weather has been pretty crazy around here, going from hot to cold overnight several times but the last week or so it has at least been cool most of the time. A big front is pushing through right now and we got a lot of rain last night and after the front rolls on through this afternoon temps will dip down into the low 20’s for the next two nights. Hopefully we’ll have some weather like this in a couple weeks for Christmas.

Well there isn’t much else going on around here, but I’m way over due on posting an update to my Hunting Blog after our Oklahoma deer hunting trip, so I better get on that too!

Have a great Christmas!

- Jason
